about

For their fourth release, the Oregon/California/Nebraska-based drone collective Bus Gas offers up a shimmering, rainbow-color ghost titled “Live On Leave Us.” Bus Gas, having abandoned their previous affinity for improvisation in favor of deliberate composition, has meticulously constructed a matched pair of songs; the first being a weightless, celestial moan with the second as a wheezing, grime-coated ceremony. Bus Gas gleefully stack layer on layer, loop on loop, sound on sound, knowing full well that the songs will inevitably crumble beneath under their own weight, leaving behind little but dusty remnants.

"Truly blessed drones ... squalling like Neil Young’s Dead Man as performed by Stephen O’Malley."
- The Quietus

"The alternating delicacy and weight of these new jams takes a classical kind of solemnity."
- Tabs Out

"A truly mesmerizing fork-in-the-road in one of most undersung but praiseworthy groups putting out music today."
- Tome to the Weather Machine

"Taking the forms of post-rock and making it bleed a million colors."
- Was Ist Das

"The entire..composition is a viscous iridescent lava flow suitable for drastic landscape change."
- Cassette Gods

"Building from a cry to a purifying wall of sound before collapsing into ashen silence."
- Foreign Accents

"Like a giant pipe organ being torn from its foundation and spun into space with pipes still playing."
- Lost in a Sea of Sound
